Six Months turned into Five Years
Jenny lost her five-year long battle with ovarian cancer recently (8/1/2021). She passed away in the arms of her husband (Mark) at their home in Scandia, MN on August 1st, 2021 at the age of 64.
Jenny's initial diagnosis was a 6-month or less life expectancy. We all miss her so, so much already, but we are thankful she was able to persist for five years and share in more memories with us. Since her diagnosis, she made it into remission twice, got to see all three of her kids get married and bring wonderful people into the family including two absolutely lovely grandchildren, and was able to spend two fun-filled years with them as one of the most amazing grandmothers the world has ever had. She also survived to celebrate her 42nd wedding anniversary with Mark and enjoyed exactly one year (to the day) of his retirement with him (she had always been a planner and he had really hoped to get a year with her when we learned that her cancer had made a third appearance). They have been together since high school and share an inspiring bond that has spanned 49 years. While we are incredibly sad that she is gone, we are also relieved she is at peace.
Jenny had a truly fantastic team helping her fight against her aggressive form of ovarian cancer (clear cell carcinoma) at the University of Minnesota. We are ever grateful to them for their tireless efforts and giving us more time with her. We hope that this page helps to generate more funding for ovarian cancer research so that any others enduring this fight have their best chance at more hugs, more laughs, and more memories with the people, pets, and places they love.
She will be loved and missed tremendously by her family and friends.
Mrs. Claus
Jenny loved to host the extended family Christmas every year. She would begin preparing in early December to make everyone's favorite cookies and foods so the house was filled with amazing smells, festive decorations, twinkling lights, and beautiful handmade hats that put a smile on every face.
Best Nana
Jenny was one of the best grandmothers the world has ever had. The love, hugs, encouragement, lessons, and smiles were never in short supply. She was truly amazing and her grandkids learned from the start that their Nana had the biggest heart. She'd be there in a second if you needed anything and she'd be the first to congratulate you on any success with the loudest whistle and cheer from a distance then the biggest hug when she was near.
Hidden Peak
Jenny and Mark ready to ski down from the top at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort in Utah. We have a family ski vacation to Snowbird every year (even though she would occasionally request we trade the snow for the beach, she always humored the rest of the family for more time in the snow). She loved the beauty of the mountains and exploring with her family.
Jenny and Mark (with their pup, Waldo)
Together since high school, these two share an inspiring bond and are an amazing example of love.
