Grab your hiking boots so you can explore the highest peak in North Africa, Mount Toubkal. Explore the scenic trails surrounded by rivers and snowy mountain tops for a once in a lifetime adventure in the beautiful Atlas Mountains of Morocco.

Between June 13th -19th, you will get the full experience of the hidden gems that Morroco carries as our itinerary will be jam packed with hiking, and camping, and soo much more, all to support  people of North Africa. Be prepared for an ultimate adventure of a lifetime!

Through the  Challenge, you will learn how to support Islamic Relief projects.   All participants will receive an email with a link to their personal crowdfunding page. Your goal is to raise $2,500!

PACKAGE & INFORMATION

What will Islamic Relief cover with your registration?

  • Transportation within Morocco, including to/from airport
  • 3 meals/day for duration of trip, except arrival/departure days (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Trip Accommodation
  • Costs of all activities and tours

What will I (you) have to cover?

  • Transportation to/from Morocco (Flight + Baggage expenses)
  • Selected meals on arrival/departure dates
  • Snacks outside of meals
  • Souvenir/Gift Shopping
  • Personal Expenses
  • Medical Expenses (travel Insurance is required)
  • Hiking Equipment (boots, poles)
  • All other expenses outside of Islamic Relief's Challenge (extra tours, stays, transportation, meals)

Sign Up Eligibility

  • Age: 18 years or older
  • Vaccination Status: Double Vaccinated
  • Physically fit (able to participate in physically inclined challenges)
  • No serious medical/health conditions that could affect the well-being (ie. physical injuries, heart condition, pregnancy) *Consult with your doctor
  • Must sign release waiver
  • All participants must raise 75% of fundraising goal ($2,500) prior to travel

ITINERARY

DAY 1 - MONDAY, JUNE 13th
TRAVEL IN - MARRAKESH MENARA AIRPORT

You will be met at the airport and transferred to Riad / hotel  in the center of city. Once you have settled in, you will want to experience the famous Djemaa el Fna square where you can find entertainers performing, a myriad of food stalls all lit up with the smells to accompany them and a general melee of activity. Overnight stay  in the accommodations Riad / Hotel.

 

DAY 2 - TUESDAY, JUNE 14th
MARRAKECH – IMLIL (1740m)  - TIZI MZIK (2200m) - AZIB N’TAMSOULT (2250m) 

You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech at around 8.00am. Accompanied by an English- speaking guide you will be driven south up over gorges and high passes of the upper valleys to the Berber town of Imlil (1740m). Here is where we shall leave our vehicle to take a welcome glass of mint tea in our guesthouse prior to setting out for 5hours hike towards Azib Tamsoult Refuge passing via Tizi Mzik Pass, from where we will have amazing views over the berber valleys. Overnight at a nice Refuge in Tamsoult. 5h walk.

 

DAY 3 - WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15th
AZIB N’TAMSOULT(2250m)  - TIZI N’AGUELZIM (3600m) - REFUGE TOUBKAL (3207m) 

Today involves a fairly stiff climb out of the Azzaden Valley to the Toubkal refuge over the Aguelzim mountain pass at 3600 m. Lunch will be taken with spectacular views over the Atlas mountain range. Overnight in the Toubkal refuge where you will likely be sharing a bunk room with other trekkers tackling Toubkal early the next morning. 6 to 7 walk.

 

DAY 4 - THURSDAY, JUNE 16th
REFUGE TOUBKAL (3207m) -  SUMMIT MT TOUBKAL (4167m) – REFUGE (3207m)

A long day ahead today, as you have a pre-dawn start for the ascent of Toubkal(4167m). The terrain varies and can be steep in places. You will also highly likely cross patches of snow and certainly some sliding scree. There are some great views from the infamous triangle that marks the summit. Trekking poles are an advantage on this mountain, especially in the scree on the descent. The descent is by the same route and you can take your time as once back at the Refuge.Approx 7 to 8 hrs walk

 

DAY 5 - FRIDAY, JUNE 17th
REFUGE (3207m) - SIDI CHAMHAROUCH (2310m) - AREMD (1.940m)

After breakfast, you shall  set off towards the north along steeply descending, zigzagging trails of the higher slopes of the Valley of the Assif n'Isouhouanem n'Ouagounss towards the Shrine of Sidi Chamharouch. Set beside a waterfall, there is a pilgrimage 'marabout' shrine here, probably the remnant of a pre-Islamic culture, but forbidden to non-Muslims.  Another 2 hours downhill will allow to get to the village of Aremd where will have a lunch and afternoon we can explore more visit this beautiful village and evening back to our Riad.Approx 4 hrs walk.

 

DAY 6 - SATURDAY, JUNE 18th
AREMD (1.940m) – IMLIL (1700m) - MARRAKECH

After breakfast, you have 40 minute easy walk down to the village of Imlil, passing through some berber villages and visiting some waterfalls.  Once we arrive to the center we will meet your transport to take you back to Marrakesh.  Upon arrival In Marrakesh at around noon, check in the Riad/Hotel and you will take the afternoon for leisure to explore the city.

 

DAY 7 - SUNDAY, JUNE 19th
DEPARTURE TO THE AIRPORT OF MARRAKECH

After breakfast then you have some free time for shopping or doing something at your leisure in the center of city. Back to your hotel to prepare your luggage etc for a transfer to Marrakesh airport in order to arrive two hours before your scheduled flight
