On Friday, September 8, 2023; a tragic earthquake struck Morocco killing nearly 2,500 people and leaving 2,476 more injured.

Homes have been partly or totally collapsed, and electricty and roads were cut off. 

Over 300,000 people in and around the major city of Marrakech were affected by the earthquake.    

Islamic Relief is now assessing the most critical needs and identifying local humanitarian organizations to work with to deliver vital aid. Food, shelter, and healthcare are expected to be the most urgent needs.

Islamic Relief has extensive experience responding to disasters around the world, including throughout the Middle East. We recently helped more than 1 million people affected by the earthquake that struck Turkiye and Syria in February 2023.
