I am Tertius Venter, a reconstructive plastic surgeon called to work with Mercy Ships serving God's heart by serving the poor. I am a full-time volunteer surgeon working with four organizations mainly in Africa. I serve with Mercy Ships an average of 4 months per year doing reconstructive surgery on people who desperately need restoration of function that was lost through burn injuries, birth abnormalities, trauma, disease ... an outreach to restore dignity and self-worth and put smiles on hearts and faces of those who have lost hope. To take their hands and tell them through our actions that they are infinitely important to and loved by God who created them in His image.
