We are raising support for our two-year volunteer committment to Mercy Ships, where we will be part of an amazing, Jesus centered community, who offer hope and healing to so many in need.
We are Matt and Marci Murray. We were both born and raised in Colorado but have lived the past 6 years in Yakima, WA. Matt retired as the Chief of Police in July 2024, after 35 years in law enforcement. Marci retired in June 2024, after 24 years of teaching in the public school system. We raised 5 children and have two beautful granddaughters.
We are incredibly blessed to answer God's calling to serve in Africa, and we cherish your support. Our new home is on the Global Mercy (Sierra Leone, West Africa), where Matt serves as the ship's Managing Director, and Marci teaches 3rd grade in the ships International Academy.
Our full-time volunteer service began in July 2025. Ouur start-up costs (plane tickets to Africa, travel insurance, and supplies were roughly $6000, and our monthly need is $1000. We do not receive compensation for our service and our mission is funded by your generous giving.
