I just moved to Connecticut in October from the Deep South for a great opportunity at Mystic Aquarium. The weather where I come from in New Orleans is mostly hot and humid with waters comfortable for bathing. So when my new colleaues asked me to help them get donations for our mission at the Aquarium by jumping into the icy waters off a beach in Groton, CT I thought that it was nuts. But, after seeing the organization's commitment to conservation, the environment and people, I was inspired.
