Hi! My name is Daisy and I’m 7 years old.
When I was 4, I was diagnosed with mild hemophilia. My family and I are really thankful that our Hemophilia Treatment Center takes women in this world seriously and insisted on a blood test even with no symptoms yet — because many girls and women don’t get diagnosed as early as I did.
Did you know that, on average, it takes women about 16 years to receive a diagnosis? For a long time, hemophilia was thought of as a “man’s disease,” which means many girls are overlooked.
Even though I’m not limited in what I can do, having my diagnosis is really important. It helps me and my family understand my body and makes sure I have the support I need if anything ever comes up.
I’m walking to help raise awareness that girls bleed too—and to support other kids and families like mine.
Thank you for supporting me and this amazing community!
Love,
Daisy ?
