Proud Partner of the Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival

Thank you for visiting our page! Nemours is a Children's Health System that cares for all children regardless of the ability to pay. Below you can read about our remarkable patient ambassadors and our partnership with Dragon Boat! Donate today to help kids like Luke, Charisse, Caleb, and Norah!

Luke

Meet Luke! Luke suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy—a genetic disorder that begins in the nervous system and affects all the muscles in the body through gradual degeneration. He travels all the way from North Carolina to visit his care team at Nemours. With the support of the Nemours family and the local community, Luke is living a life full of sleepovers with friends, schoolwork, and the occasional ATV ride with his dad and sister. Read more about Luke's story here!

Charisse

Meet Charisse! Charisse was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) at 3-years-old.  Her ability to breathe and properly digest nutrients was severely affected. After leaving the hospital, her parents were faced with the realities of regular doctor visits and ongoing treatments to manage her lifelong, life-changing condition. Nemours has helped the Mahosi family become comfortable in their new home town by providing the care Charisse needed and financial support from our Patient and Family Support Fund. Read more about Charisse's story here!

Norah

Meet Norah, our resident “Rock Star”! Norah was born with Spina Bifida and sees more than 30 Nemours specialists. She is loved by many Nemours physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers. Her mom Megan estimates that over the past four years, they’ve logged more than 120 visits to our downtown Jacksonville, FL location. Norah doesn’t let a wheelchair keep her from dancing, going to the beach and being active with her family. Read more about Norah's story here!

Caleb

Meet Caleb! Caleb was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in 2017 after his parents noticed a bump on his lower back. Due to where the tumor was located he became paralyzed from the waist down. After surgery and chemotherapy, Caleb regained the ability to walk and his tumor remains stable. Today, Caleb continues to see his Nemours oncology team to monitor the remaining tumor. Read more about Caleb's story here!

About Our Partnership with Dragon Boat

Your Opportunity to Help:

Nemours Children’s Health System is proud to be this year’s International Dragon Boat Festival charity partner and looking forward to an amazing year! Nemours began more than 70 years ago with the vision of Alfred I. duPont to improve the lives of children and to do whatever it takes to prevent and treat even the most disabling childhood conditions. Today, through our children’s hospitals and health system, we have over 1.9 million unique patient encounters annually, including families who travel from across the country and world to see our specialists — treating every child as we would our own. However, in order to keep pace with medical innovations we require the support of our community. Please consider donating today to save the lives of chronically ill children. Your return on investment is priceless – it’s a child’s life. It’s Luke, Charisse, Caleb, and Nolan.

Nemours Children’s Health System:
