We are excited to have opportunities to celebrate our angels! 

Our first baby is Ollie Engelbrecht. We had 12 sweet weeks excitedly dreaming about who our first child will be, what they'll be like. At our first prenatal appointment, August 2022 (12 weeks and 3 days) the midwife was unable to find a heartbeat. We had to wait until the next day for an ultrasound where we learned the baby stopped growing several weeks prior. 

We were devastated but knew we wanted a baby so badly. We found out we were pregnant again just before Christmas that year. We made it past a 9 week ultrasound with a healthy baby. Past the 12 and 16 week appointments with good reports. Even knowing there is no safe zone in pregnancy, I started to feel like this would be different and we'd get to keep this baby. 

Later that week, things started going downhill. At 17 weeks on the nose (and exactly 7 months after loosing Ollie) we lost our sweet baby girl because of a placental abruption. We named her Lydia Grace. I knew after loosing her, I'd need a lot of grace. She was perfect, just impossibly tiny. We spent 6 sweet hours with her before handing her over. We were once again, devastated and heartbroken. 

I am thankful for the community we have because of No Foot Too Small. I'm thankful for the opportunities to talk about and celebrate our sweet babies. And I'm also thankful for the opportunities we'll have to celebrate them with Carter.
