Donated Goods and Services

What are In-Kind donations?

In-kind gifts are contributions of goods or services, other than cash donations.  In a children’s hospital setting donated goods and services, often called in-kind donations, are most often associated with toys, games, and craft kits for the sick children in our care, but did you know that in-kind donations can also help boost our fundraising efforts during special events? Donated items can be used in silent auctions during a golf or gala event.  Contributions large and small continue to make a difference.

Examples of in-kind gifts include:

  • Goodslike toys, games, craft and art supplies for our patients and families, autographed apparel or memorabilia, trips, weekend excursions or experiences for use by our organization for special event auctions
  • Serviceslike printing services, meeting space, photocopy and mail services, and administrative support
  • Expertise, like legal, tax, or business advice; marketing and website development; and strategic planning.

A gift of toys, games, books, or crafts can do wonders to brighten a child’s life while they are in the hospital or clinic waiting room. Our Child Life programs at Nemours offer activities designed to help children cope with their hospital stay.

Child Life specialists in our hospitals are trained to work with children who have serious illness or are recovering from surgery — often using toys, games, and crafts to allow them to express their fears and hopes and regain a sense of mastery and control.

New, cuddly stuffed animals, hand-held video games, books, and music CDs can help to pass the time and provide a distraction from the hospital routine or clinic visit.

Please consider purchasing items from our child life with lists.  See right panel for more details.
