Fundraising Ideas

There are tons of ways to raise funds as a group. Check out this list for some inspiration! Remember - the more creative you are, the more likely you are to gather donations!

FOOD FUN

Flippin’ Flapjacks Pancake Breakfast

What a way for employees to start the day! An amazing pancake breakfast, raising money for JA, and have the deliciousness come to you! At a cost of $5 per person, charging $10 per person would result in a $5 per person profit for your Bowl-A-Thon teams!!! Click here to schedule your event with flippin’ flapjacks and don’t forget to mention it’s for Junior Achievement!

Chili Cook Off

Recruit your community’s best chefs to cook a pot of their delicious chili. Then, set a time and date, and sell tickets to your supporters and community members to taste each one! You can either charge an entrance fee OR have people vote by putting a dollar (or few) into a jar in front of their favorite chili.

Company BBQ

Host a Company BBQ at work, and have teams contribute the needed food items. With team members contributing the food, ALL the proceeds from sales can be donated to the JA Bowl-A-Thon on behalf of your company or team. Here is a quick cheat sheet to help decide how much you will need of certain foods.

Office Cookbook

Do you have some exceptionally creative cooks in your office? Create an office cookbook, have participants pay to enter their recipes then sell the cookbook to those who may not be as gifted in the area of culinary skills.

Bake Sale

Companies host bake sales either inside or outside of the office and then give proceeds to their JA Bowl-A-Thon team or fundraising page. This is a great way to try some baked goods!

Ice Cream Social

Who wouldn’t love to end the workday on a sweet note? An ice cream social is a fun way to interact with colleagues and sweeten you JA Bowl-A-Thon fundraising!

Donut Sale

If you provide JA’s Tax ID number (84-0430495) to Krispy Kreme, they will sell you donuts at a discounted rate so then you can sell them for a profit. This is a great idea if you are located in a large office building where you can target people who aren’t participating in the event. For more information, click HERE or order online at krispykreme.com/fundraising.

Restaurant fundraisers

GroupRaise has done the leg-work for us and provides a list of great restaurants in your area, as well as the percentage they donate back, and all the steps to book your event all in one place! Visit groupraise.com to get started.

Sports Fans

Super Bowl or March Madness Squares

Bring on the competitive edge by adding in a little in-office wagering! Not only will the winner get a portion of the pot, but ultimate bragging rights for their team- which we all know is the greatest reward ever! Here are a couple bracket templates to get things started. SuperBowl Squares and March Madness Bracket

Fitness Challenge

Host an on-site fitness challenge to see who can put their money where their mouth is! Challenge someone in your office and the loser has to pay a set amount to the other person’s team. Possible events include: push-up, pull-up and sit-up competitions, barbell burnout, or a squat challenge.

Family Friendly

Movie Night

Host a movie night with popcorn sale (Double Good popcorn donates 50% back). You could hold it at the end of a workday (or during the lunch hour) and charge admission, make sure to either pre-order popcorn for extra fundraising or have a popcorn machine on-site!

Family Fun Tickets

Buy discounted tickets (group rates) for a family-fun venue then sell them as a fundraiser. Increase employee engagement by choosing a specific date to go together.

Auction

Auction tickets to one of Denver’s many premier sporting events! Use Flashseats or another great app to find the best deal!

Head Honcho

Pie in the Face

How much would you pay to throw a pie in your boss’s face? Sell raffle tickets and then pick a lucky winner to make that dream a reality!

Lunch/Happy Hour on the Boss

With the boss’s permission, of course, give the highest fundraiser (individual or team) the chance to win lunch/happy hour on the boss.

Holiday

Gift Card Fundraiser

We all have those hard-to-buy-for people in our lives, so this holiday season, fundraise for JA just by buying gift cards! Scrip has a great site that lets you order gift cards and lists the rebate % each company gives back to your charity of choice (ex: Starbucks 7%, GAP/Old Navy 14%, Build-a-Bear 8%, Bath & Body 12%) ShopWithScrip or Kohl’s Cares Cards

Holiday Gift Wrapping Party

Start early and make the most of the holiday season (especially after Black Friday) and offer gift wrapping for a fee to increase those fundraising efforts one gift at a time!

Holiday Potluck

The holidays are all about delicious food so capitalize on everyone’s excitement about trying fun, new holiday recipes and have a “buy in” to enter your recipe into the contest, then “sell” your recipe!

Candy Grams or Holiday Grams

Flashback to high school and bring in some holiday fun with candy grams or some variation. Flowers on Valentine’s Day, Birthday Card & Balloon, Sweet Treat for St. Patrick’s Day…any holiday, endless possibilities!

Office Opt-In

Office Board Game Tournament

Get a little retro and bring back the board games! Host a tournament, $10 buy-in and winner of each game gets the funds toward their JA Bowl-A-Thon team or team of choice.

Poker Night

Happy Hour and Poker…yes please! Of course the winner can keep a little something, but let’s play for JA and raise some money while raising the stakes!

Office Open House

Each team decides on something they will sell during a lunch hour, then use a big open space for all teams to set-up their tables of goodies! Anadarko had everything from fruit kabobs and a chocolate fountain, pulled pork tacos, baked goods and art for sale. JA staff can help by being available to take card payments.

Jeans4JA

Companies can elect to sell Junior Achievement stickers to their employees to wear jeans at work for either $5 a day or $20 for the week! This is a fun and easy way to raise money and we have the stickers ready for you!

Office Auction

Have your company host an auction of donated items at the office or at the actual event with the proceeds going to the JA Bowl-A-Thon. Think of all the treasures you may have lying around the house!

Office Book Sale

Have folks from around your office or friends and family donate gently used books to your cause, then set up shop over lunch one day.

Internal Fundraising Competitions

What better way to spark fundraising than a little friendly competition? Challenge another office in your area to a fundraising competition. Set a deadline for the day before the event and see which office can raise the most money and watch the donations come rolling in!

At the Event

Bowling for Bucks

You may not have expert bowlers in your office, but someone has to have the high score right? Hold contests where a senior executive will donate money to the fundraising page of the person with the highest bowling score. Some great ideas we have seen are: best score, turkeys and highest team scores.

Prize Items for the Event

Add a few more prizes to the 50/50 drawing on the day of the event. Not only will this help increase fundraising at your JA Bowl-A-Thon event, but it will give a few more of your colleagues another chance to win prizes!
