With more than 30 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, procurement and site management, Carla brings unique insight and expertise to her role as Senior Vice President, Head of Global Engineering and Facilities for Roche. In this role, Carla is responsible for the design, construction, maintenance and life-cycle asset management for Roche’s global manufacturing network.

Throughout her varied and successful career at Genentech and Roche, Carla is known as a transformational business leader across functions and geographies. In her prior role, Carla was the Vice President of Site Services for Genentech, where she was responsible for Genentech’s real-estate portfolio, physical infrastructure, and workplace services for the South San Francisco headquarters, consisting of 200 acres, approximately five million square feet of space supporting more than 11,000 employees. Prior to her role in Site Services, Carla served as the Head of Procurement Services for Roche’s Global Pharma team, she was responsible for strategic and operational procurement services across the Roche organization. While based in Singapore, she led the transition and full integration of a newly acquired manufacturing facility into Roche’s existing Singapore operations. She also owned the successful implementation for $1.5B capital design and construction portfolio during a critical growth time for Genentech 2004-2008.

Carla is a true change agent, with a passion for motivating and inspiring talent and building high-performing teams. She is a respected mentor at Roche, in the industry and the local community. Carla serves on the Board of Directors for Bay Area Council, is the Board Chair for the Genentech Foundation, and is a member of the International Women’s Forum. Carla is a thought leader and sought-after inspirational speaker.

In 2016, Carla was recognized by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the most influential women in business in the Bay Area, and in 2017 was named to their “Forever Influential” Honor Roll. Carla was also selected in 2017 as a Hall of Fame honoree for the Northern California Real Estate Women of Influence Awards. Carla holds a Bachelor of Science, Chemical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley. Outside of work, she can be found working in her kitchen and garden and keeping up with the latest music trends with her teenage daughter.
