Persist- doing difficult things even when others tell you to stop!

Life is difficult in Haiti there is no question about that. However our children in St. Louis d'Ayiti are attending school regularly even if food is scarce. They persist with their education. Food deliveries have not been consistent through the port of Prince port so we have arranged to have food delivered through Cap Haitian in the northern part of Haiti. We persist in getting them the food we have packed! Won't you join us in being persistent? Won't you come and pack 50,000 meals for these children ?

Let me tell you a few things about St. Louis d'Ayiti:

  • Children in this mountain village are isolated from most of the countries violence.
  • They are attending school regularly while children in the urban areas are not attending school.
  • They are meeting in the school you have helped construct ( second phase paused due to COVID and the countries unrest.)
  • Our meals are getting delivered through a safe port in Cap Haitian to the north.
  • We are supporting teacher salaries through your generous contributions.
  • We hope to provide financial resources so each child has the books they need to learn this year.
  • St. Louis d'Ayiti has a group of adults participating in an Adult Literacy Program.

Here's my plan:

I'm going to the North Shore Packathon for Haiti on October 18 and 19 to help pack lunches for school children there. We plan to provide six months of  food for the lunch program for more than 200 children in the Light and Peace School of St. Louis d'Ayiti, way out in the remote mountaints of Haiti. Packathon volunteers will form assembly lines in the Parish Hall  at Christ Church of Hamilton and Wenham to pack over 50,000 meals for them.

I want to make sure those Haitian children can count on lunch every weekday next school year, beginning January 1, 2025.

On average, every volunteer packs a box of 240 lunches.  Each box costs $89 dollars worth of rice, beans, vegetables and vitamins, enough to feed one student for a year. So my goal is to raise over $2,000 to feed the entire 5th grade for a year. I also want to pay for school workbooks at $50.00 per student and support teacher's salaries at $100 a month to keep the school open and thriving. We have approximately, 200 students, 8 teachers and 2 cooks at the school. Will you help? Together, we really can make a difference!

Donate Now to help me reach my goal of helping needy children in Haiti.

North Shore Packathon 2023 is organized by Future Forward for Haiti, a registered 501c3 non-profit, with no paid employees, so over 95% of your gift will go to help in Haiti. If you prefer to give with a check, please write it to Future Forward for Haiti and mail to Tom Skinner, 9 Juniper Street, Wenham, MA 01984. Find us at  FutureForwardforHaiti.org.
