On October 24, I plan to attend the silent auction at Christ Church of Hamilton/Wenham to participate in raising funds to provide local provisions for our students. This is the 7th year of providing school lunches to the children of St. Louis d'Ayiti in Haiti.

 The violence and chaos in Haiti has escalated but our children continue to be protected by their mountainous isolation. They have been going to school and getting food through local provisions as the packed food can not be delivered from the north. (see map below)

Fund Raising goals:

1. $40,000 will Provide Lunches for 240 students through 2026, including the summer months! 
2. The food is the top priority, but if we can exceed our goal,  we would like to provide the workbooks that serve as textbooks.  One set of workbooks, costs between $30 and $50 dollars per student, depending on the grade level.  

50% of Haiti's population is starving.

• Only 60% of adults can read at a 6th grade level.
• The average income is $350 per year.
• Some children cannot count on even one meal a day.
• Packathon food has always arrived safely, though sometimes delayed.
• Their government is in disarray due to gang violence in the capitol.  Many schools have closed or students have dropped out.   In Future Forward for Haiti's partner communities in the mountains, school continues each day.
