This pandemic been challenging for all children, even those in the best circumstances.  I personally witnessed a lot of children in foster care struggle when school went online and they lost the opportunity to learn in person.  For children in foster care, school can mean so much more than education.  It can be a hot meal, a stable authority figure in the classroom, structure in a world that otherwise feels chaotic.  Adding on worries about the health of extended family with whom they may/may not be in contact, delayed court dates, and fewer available foster homes has created a doozy of a year for these kids.  Child welfare is extremely close to my heart and your willingness to join me in this cause means the world to me.  Thank you so much to everyone who donates and fundraises on my behalf!!!!!

On Saturday, May 22nd, I will be participating in The New York Foundling’s Junior Board ‘A Mile in their Shoes’ Virtual Walk-a-thon.  May is National Foster Care Month, a time to recognize that we each can play a role in enhancing the lives of children and teens in foster care. 

I invite you to contribute to my campaign and help me reach, and hopefully surpass my fundraising goal!  Proceeds will benefit the New York Foundling’s holistic suite of foster care programs - those that prevent child abuse and neglect, educational services and tutoring, access to therapists and coaches, the opportunity to attend an overnight summer camp in August, and other programs that have shown long-term success.
