The Hudson Area Library History Room has books, photographs, documents, video and audio oral histories, and memorabilia on the history of Hudson, Greenport, and Stockport (our library service area). People love Hudson history because it is a kind of microcosm of American history in many ways but, with a twist, because the people in Hudson, today and historically, are just so darned interesting! And, speaking of interesting people, the Oakdale Plunge event always has the most interesting folks in town! The Plunge, we believe through our extensive research on the subject, has roots in such serendipitous and outrageous community events as the Hudson Bed Races and the Society to Promote Our Unique Town's (SPOUTs) eating contests.

Oakdale Plunge provides funding for two great causes: the City of Hudson Youth Department and the Hudson Fire Department's Water Rescue and Dive Team. So, you too can be a hero!
