I joined the City of Hudson Dive Team & Water Rescue Unit a couple of years ago as a mutual aid member from Germantown Fire Department. We are a special operations division of Hudson Fire with mutual aid members from all over the county. We train on advanced water rescue techniques such as public safety rescue diving and dive tending, swiftwater & urban flood rescue, and advanced ice rescue. I am personally moved to dedicate my time to this team due to the increased flooding and extreme weather events caused by climate change, and am honored to be a part of a team preparing to save lives in those emergencies. Your donation helps us replace aging equipment, expand our membership, and attend specialized training, such as the swiftwater rescue technician course I attended last summer at the Swift Water & Flood Training (SWFT) at the New York State Preparedness Center in Oriskany, NY.
