24 Hour Challenge

3pm - 5pm: Set-up Team Relay Canopies
5pm: 24-hour challenge begins
(every four hours runners change direction)

ROUTE/COURSE MAP

The Freed to Run 24-hour Challenge has two categories:

  1. Individuals: Participants can choose to run, walk, or crawl on a ½ mile course around the Duval County Courthouse. This event follows a "go as you please" race format, allowing participants to choose their preferred pace. They can leave and rejoin the course but must inform their lap counters. Lap counters change every three hours, and the lap direction changes after four hours.

  2. Relay Teams: These teams, with a maximum of 12 runners, also run the ½ mile course and can adopt their preferred pace, whether running, walking, or crawling. Multiple team members can run together, but only one lap is counted. Lap counters change every three hours, and the lap direction changes after four hours. Team members should check in with the new lap counter during shift changes. Participants must display their race numbers and can use their own handlers and aid.

  3. Pit Stop/Canopy: Relay teams will be provided with a 10'x10' canopy, serving as their pit-stop throughout the entire challenge. These canopies will be placed at the crossroads of W Adams and N Pearl, guaranteeing easy access for all participants.

Individual winners (one male and one female) are determined by the most miles completed in 24 hours. The team winner is the relay team that covers the most miles in the same time frame. Water is the official drink, and restrooms are nearby. If there are lap count concerns, participants should talk to their lap counters during the challenge. Mechanical assistance is not allowed.

12 Hour Challenge

5K Challenge

The "Freed to Run 5K Challenge" will be conducted on the same ½ mile circuit that encircles the Duval County Courthouse, a route currently being utilized by the participants of the 12-hour and 24-hour races. This 5K run is intended as a supportive and enjoyable endeavor, aimed at providing encouragement to the remarkable individuals undertaking the rigorous 12 and 24-hour challenges.

In recognition of individual achievements, we will acknowledge one male and one female winner who demonstrate exceptional performance in this event - first place finishers!

Pit Stop/Canopy Challenge

To bring additional fun to the event, every relay team will be provided with a generous 10'x10' canopy, serving as their exclusive pit-stop throughout the entire challenge. These canopies will be strategically placed at the crossroads of W Adams and N Pearl, guaranteeing easy access for all participants.

Relay teams have the thrilling chance to make their canopy truly their own by adding company logos, banners, or an enchanting theme.

Participants will have the opportunity to vote for the most creatively decorated canopy, igniting a friendly competition and celebrating exceptional decorating endeavors.
