As a daughter, cousin, and niece of immigrants - I have seen firsthand the hardships my family faces in the United States - hardships that have only increased with the rhetoric used by the Trump Administration when speaking about immigrants and refugees.

OneAmerica and its leaders use that narrative to fuel their power to create a movement of people working towards a more peaceful, just and safe community for all. 

I recently joined OneAmerica as a staff member and have been amazed at their approach of building power within immigrant and refugee communities. They believe that those furthest from power are closest to solutions to make Washington a state that works for everyone. Their approach begins with community organizing and leadership development in immigrant and refugee communities of color to create civic and political space for grassroots leaders to shape and reform critical policies, practices, institutions, and movements that impact their lives. 

They have created a movement of leaders that work to challenge and change the injustices in the United States that is built on systemic oppression and dehumanization. And I am proud to be working alongside such powerful folks.
