Every day I wake up and head to work doing what I love to do.  If my mother had an organization like OneAmerica around when I was a child, I wonder how our lives might have been different.  As an immigrant from Korea she struggled to find her place in America.  She encountered language and cultural barriers, and she was wounded by experiences with discrimination and harassment.  She responded by isolating herself from the world.

At OneAmerica, we're building power for immigrant and refugee communities by building community, by bringing people together across race, ethnicity, religion, gender and sexual orientation, age and income.  We're a community that believes we can make change, if we organize and center the voices of those most impacted by injustice in our society.  We strive to make our communities, our state and nation welcoming to all.

And we're succeeding.  We're helping thousands to become citizens and registered voters.  In 2018, we helped elect Washington's most diverse legislature in history.  And this year we passed major legislation, the Keep Washington Working Act, that prioritizes public safety, our economy and family unity by ensuring that local and state government will not be entangled in broken and unjust federal immigration enforcement policies.  This builds on our success in shaping major policy initiatives - increasing the minimum wage, strengthening bilingual instruction, advancing climate justice - led by our members.
