My expereinces as a child of undocumented Mexican immigrants fueled my interest and ignited a sense of obligation and commitment to immigration advocacy. I strives for concrete systemic change within the immigration and educational systems and recognize that outreach, advocacy, and building power in our communities play a crucial part in challenging their ineffectiveness and inequity. • Established a council of immigrant and refugee leaders to lead OneAmerica's work (2018)
• Passed the Keep Washington Working Act, which will restrict police from working with ICE to target immigrants across Washington State (2019)
• Provided free citizenship services to over 10,000 people (2018)
• Established a $1 million statewide defense fund for low-income individuals facing deportation (2018)
• Added $1 million to launch dual-language classes, celebrating the strengths of bi-lingual students (2018)
•  Provided free training to 22 individuals from across Washington State who are interested in running for local office (2019)
• 1,830 hours of free English classes (2018)
