This walk always comes after a long fundraising push at the end of a fiscal year at work. You never know for sure who is going to give, what will fall through the cracks, if you've ever done enough.
But I am also acutely aware that every little bit counts. The small gifts add up, and turn into something that will help, work towards the goal, fund the year, bring music to thousands, provide a paycheck for colleagues, allow us to buy post-its, send the brochure.
So while I don't work in the field of social services or education or public advocacy, I do this walk to do a little bit. My hope is that we all do a little bit, and we show our support by walking, by caring, and we raise enough to help, to empower, to give people a chance to live peacefully, with nourishment, with education, with shelter, with opportunities.
I hope you will join me in doing a little bit.
