I want to express my heartfelt thanks for taking a moment to visit my fundraising page.

This year, The Children's Heart Foundation celebrates 30 years of funding research that saves lives and changes futures.

I work in reproductive health, and frequently interact with families navigating a cardiac diagnosis for their chlid prenatally. I can think of many patients over the years who have had to navigate difficult decisions and sometimes tragic outcomes when the course of their pregnancy and lives are changed by prenatal diagnosis of a congenital heart defect.

Then my own daughter was born with a rare and serious heart defect which she survived only thanks to extensive and heroic medical intervention in the first days of her life. The fact that she is still with us, now a sassy and healthy three-year-old, is a testament to the research and work that has come before us, but we still have so far to go. We need more research into the prevention and treatment of these conditions so that more families can have a positive outcome like ours, or not even have to go through the entire scary process in the first place.
