On behalf of Robin Lewis Insurance, I am supporting Ft Lauderdale Youth For Christ (FTL YFC) because there are too many Broward County teens going to school anxious and suffering from isolation due to the fear of youth violence.
14% of students carry a weapon to school for self-defense, according to the CDC. That means that in a school of 3,000 students, about 450 of them are armed and ready to use it.
YFC is doing something about it! They have brought Campus Life Lunch Clubs to schools. Campus Life has created a place for all students, especially the isolated, to eat lunch together and discuss important topics, while creating peer friendships and allowing adults to mentor. Currently the FTL YFC has 4 Campus Life mentoring clubs and because of their success, 6 more Broward County Public Schools have asked FTL YFC to bring Campus Life to their students. FTL YFC goal is to raise $20,000 to start these new clubs.
