Every year I participate in the Our House Walk For Hope.
I do so to honor the memory of people I have loved. I also participate because I wish an organization like Our House had been around when my father died. And because it was there for me when my partner, Chris, died.
This year, I once again am walking in memory of my mother, Anne Katz Minsberg Wexler. She was a kind, strong, smart, generous,funny person and a great role model. It's hard for me to believe she died almost 15 years ago. I think of her so often, she's still a big part of my life.
Our House has age and loss specific groups, and thanks to donations, these are offered at sliding fees. Donations also help send children to Camp Erin each year, where they can interact with other grieving kids who have lost a parent.
