I am walking this 5K because it is a great way to honor Luke and hang out with my new friends from my online grief group.  

Our group meets twice a month on zoom and this small group of people and these meetings have helped me so much more than I ever thought they could.  Having people to talk to that have lost a partner has been so important to me and is helping me navigate life.  None of us have the answers, but we are working through it together.  I am so glad that I will have this program for a full year. 

Luke always told me that if anything ever happened to him that I would be ok.  I told him to shut up and that I didn't want to talk or think about that.  He would tell you that I never would admit that he was right and I'm a bit stuborn.  I'm not saying that he was right, but being with my group helps me feel that I am a little closer to 'ok' than I was before. 

I still can't believe that Luke is gone and I miss him so much.  I feel lucky that we were together for 31 years (married for 28) and cheated that we weren't togther for 70.  Ha!  Luke was my person and I wouldn't be the person I am today without his love, encouragement, and gentle nudging to always be the best version of myself (even when it wasn't the easy thing to do). I could go on and on, but this special man will always live on in my heart and in the hearts of the people that he loved and nudged.
