Two years ago, I lost my dear friend Miraj Desai. Miraj was one of the brightest minds I’ve ever known—a psychologist whose intellect was only matched by his deep compassion for others. He felt the suffering of the world in a way that was both beautiful and heartbreaking, always striving to ease the burdens of those around him. And despite carrying so much empathy, he somehow made space for laughter—rib-busting, can’t-catch-your-breath kind of laughter.
We met in graduate school, and from day one, I knew he was special. Our shared journey to becoming psychologists was filled with deep conversations, big dreams, and moments of pure, ridiculous joy. His loss is immeasurable, but his impact lives on in the countless lives he touched.
In his memory, I am participating in a fundraiser for Our House Grief Support, an organization that helps people navigate loss with community and care. As a board member, I’ve seen firsthand the power of their work, and I know Miraj would have deeply believed in their mission.
