Questions About the OUR HOUSE 5K
When is this event?
The event will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
Where is this event?
This event is at Woodley Park, located at 6076 Woodley Avenue, Encino, CA 91436.
Who can participate?
This event is open to everyone—runners, walkers, and participants of every age from the OUR HOUSE community and the greater Los Angeles area. Please be aware that the 5K route includes some bumps and curves, and the festival area is located on grass. If you have any questions about accessibility, feel free to reach out to us.
If this is a 5K, does that mean that I have to run? Is the course timed?
No, running is not required for the event. The OUR HOUSE 5K is designed to be inclusive, giving participants the freedom to choose how they wish to take part. While we encourage those who want to run, we also warmly invite anyone who prefers to walk at their own pace. This is a beautiful opportunity to walk alongside family and friends, share memories, and honor loved ones. The course is not officially timed, but a timing clock will be available at the finish line for those who want to track their unofficial time. The focus is on connection, healing, and support, rather than speed.
What exactly is the "Raise-to-Attend" ticket?
The "Raise-to-Attend" ticket is a ticket that allows participants to register for free, with a commitment to raise at least $150 by April 26, 2025. This means that as long as you are able to raise at least $150 in donations by the deadline, registration will be completely free for you! If you are unable to raise $150 by the deadline, you will owe the difference. If you feel confident in your fundraising skills, this is a great option!
Why do we walk?
We believe that no one should walk the path of grief alone. As our city faces an immense amount of collective grief in the wake of the wildfires, it is our deepest hope that this event is an opportunity to come together and uplift one another through the journey of grief.
What if it rains?
The event will take place rain or shine, so no refunds will be issued due to weather conditions. While we can’t control the weather, we promise a beautiful day filled with hope, healing, and a strong sense of community.
What makes the OUR HOUSE 5K a meaningful event for participants?
The OUR HOUSE 5K is a meaningful opportunity to honor the memory of those close to us who have died, and celebrate their lives. It is a day of remembrance, connection, and healing, dedicated to sharing grief and love while supporting the vital services of OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center. Additionally, it offers a chance to stand beside grieving friends and family, providing them with comfort and support. Many attendees choose to participate as teams, offering one another strength and solidarity throughout this healing journey.
Can I sign-up alone or do I need a team?
We welcome anyone and everyone to walk with us, either as an individual or as a team! Whether you come alone or with a group, you’ll quickly discover that you’re in great company. Let’s walk together through this thing called grief.
What is OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center’s mission?
