HELP ME HELP THEM
WHAT IS THIS?
Indy Over the Edge is a local event to help raise awareness and funds for Central Indiana Youth for Christ’s Juvenile Justice Ministry whose mission it is to provide high risk teens with the tools and mentorship they need to succeed. I need to raise at least $1000. If I meet my goal, then I will rappel down the Barnes & Thornburg Building in downtown Indianapolis (17 stores, 245 feet) on September 28th.
WHY?
Every day I work with children and young adults who are trapped in a cycle of poverty and violence. Every day I watch as they repeat the same mistakes of their parents/family largely because it is what they know, what is available to them and what they understand to be normal through their eyes. I witness their frustration, unhappiness, and search for more.
You can not replicate what you have not seen. Many people struggle to break their families patterns, not because they do not want to but rather because they do not know how. They do not have someone to show them how things can be different, to help them when it gets complicated, to believe in them when they want to give up, to remind them things can get better. Central Indiana Youth for Christ aims to provide them with skills, mentors, and opportunities who can do just that.
Please help me reach my goal of $1000 to raise awareness and funds for CIYC. As your reward, you will have the joy of knowing I will be treacherously but fiercely scaling down a 17 story building out of love for Him and His people.
