What are we supporting?
Proceeds benefit the Juvenille Justice Ministry, a youth outreach program in detention centers, correctional facilities and group homes in Indianapolis. It includes life skills programming and provides mentors and resources to help youth in crisis succeed.
My boss Emily and I have a goal of raising $1000 each for this fund raiser.. Those who raise $1000 will have the opportunity to rappel 17 stories down the Barnes & Thornburg building. Participants must raise a minimum of $1,000 to go Over the Edge, you can donate to an individual rappeller, a team or the event itself.
You can also support this cause by volunteering!
What is a "Juvenile Justice Ministry"?
JJM is a youth outreach program taking place in a variety of institutions (i.e. detention centers, correctional facilities, group homes, residential treatment centers, emergency shelters, etc.) Our mission is to help young people develop a way of living taught by Jesus Christ; balancing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of life. We build valued relationships that are sustained through ongoing involvement as they re-enter their communities.
What kind of volunteers are needed?
Right now, we are looking for people to partner with us to help kids staying at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Facility. The need in the facility is great, and there are so many opportunities before us. To effectively provide what the kids are needing, we need others to join us in this mission. Here is what we are praying for:
- Group facilitators, people passionate about teaching and leading small groups
- People who are interested in one on one mentorship relationships
