"Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope." - Kofi Annan
I learned about CFLC over six years ago from my employer. As soon as I read that their mission is to provide personalized education so adults can transform their lives and contribute to a stronger community, I was hooked. I immediately signed up to be trained as an adult literacy tutor and have been all-in ever since. The experience I had with the student to whom I was assigned was life changing. She gave back to me far more than I ever gave to her. To see her life transform as her confidence in her ability to read increased was nothing less than magical. She went from being embarrassed to read to her grandchildren and in bible study to performing live at the CFLC luncheon. Imagine your life if you were unable to read. There are more than 60,000 adults in our surrounding area struggling to read, write, and use basic math skills. This directly impacts our community in many ways. Illiteracy is tied to poverty, crime, and poor health outcomes. Help me help CFLC help strengthen our community. Join me at tour luncheon on May 19th or contribute here directly. You can help make a difference!
