Haley has always loved raising money for Cascades Humane Society by doing Paws in the Park. She’s had some challenges in the past. Five years ago she had an altercation with a groundhog that left her paralyzed for a time. After some months (ongoing?) rehab, she returned to pretty much normal function, with some mild residual issues. But now that she’s 15, the residual issues are more significant and she has some degenerative spinal changes, along with her ‘normal’ ARFritis of a 15 year old dog. She has trouble with her balance and stability and doesn’t always stay up on all four feet when she wants to. But she makes it work.
I had been thinking about her level of participation this year. I considered taking her to the event, but not doing the walk. But I know Haley and she’d insist on doing the walk and then pay for it later. Then came Haley’s Aunt Brenda and Uncle Jim to the rescue! They are letting Haley use the cart they made for their Betsy some years ago. We took it for a test ride, and Haley seemed to love it! So Paws in the Park, here we come!
Haley is asking you to donate what you can to this good cause. And if you live in the area, come on down and join in the fun!
