As you all know, I am the director at Cascades Humane Society. Yes, fundraising is in my job but it does not require me to make my own page. But I want to. That is because this place, the people and the animals, are amazing.

The people - staff and volunteers - do whatever they can to make sure the animals are cared for like their own. That's a lot of animals to look after, and it is a lot of hard work! We are definitely understaffed and they have to work very hard to keep up with all the demands of the job.

And of course the animals are amazing. They come from various backgrounds but they don't seem to hold their past against us, even if a human did them wrong at some point in their life. They are here waiting for their second chance at a home, something they deserve so much, and we are happy to give it to them!

As a non-profit, we do not get any money from the government or from other humane society groups. That means that besides adoption fees (which do not come close to cover the cost of the animal - $650/pet on average!), we rely on the generosity of individuals and events like Paws in the Park to care for the more than 1,100 animals that come through our doors each year.

If you can spare a few dollars, I promise they will go a long way at CHS and will help care for the homeless pets of Jackson and surrounding areas.
