Recently I lost my beloved bulldog Ethel to a horrible heart disease called ARVC. I was devistated. She was truly the furry love of my life. After much contemplation, I decided I would take a break from being a Fur Baby Mama. But quickly realized that I just wasn't able to breathe without a bulldog in my life. I knew that I wanted to adopt instead of going to a breeder so I started looking for the next furry love of my life by visiting Bulldog rescue sites. There were many to adopt but most were special needs dogs. I knew that my current life situation would not be condusive to a special needs pet...maybe in another season of my life. My husband suggested that I check the Humane Society. Reluctantly (I just knew there wouldn't be a bulldog to be had there) I went to their adoption page and to my suprise there he was. 15 months old and needing a home...I found my sweet Sunny! It was late morning on a Sunday. They were opeing their doors in 30 minutes and I knew he just wouldn't be there if I waited. I quickly set out and it was love at first sight! But he was sick...to sick for me to take him home. He had a very bad respritory infection and couldn't be neutered until he was well. I filled out the adoption papers, paid my fee and left empty handed. Sunny (then named Bill) had been surrendered by a family that found him on the streets, cold and sick. They did their best to get him healthy but he was just too sick and needed professional care. I assume they couldn't afford to get him the care that he needed so they did the right thing and took him to the Humane Society. He was very under weight and had goop coming out of his nose. But the vet's treated him, gave him a warm bed to sleep on and good food to eat. It took 14 days of waiting for my Sunny to be ready to come to his forever home, but it was worth the wait! We are inseperable, he is the funniest little guy and he is so loved! Thanks to the Humane Society I can breath again!
