I'm going to Peru this summer on a Christian mission, can you believe that? The idea of going on a mission never crossed my mind before February 21st of this year. I was visiting my friend Kay Cox (I want to be more like Kay, with her faith and heart for missions) from Calvary Baptist church, who was in hospice care. Her daughter Carol, who was spending time with her, asked me about my faith, maybe even grilled me a little. She then stated that I had a heart for missions, which, as I say, had never crossed my mind. I explained to her that I was a poor man, and no way could afford to go on missions. Carol walked away and came back placing a $100 bill in my hand saying that was seed money and God would provide the rest. My decision to go to Peru was based on two things. I want to go where God sends me and do what God tells me, no matter how unworthy I feel. The most important thing in the world to me is that my family and friends know the Lord. When Carol said that God will provide the rest, I realized that he already has. Everything I have belongs to God. Just the equity in my home would pay for several missions. Oh, me of little faith, I am a rich man. What if donations run over the required amount? I guess they will have to sign me up on another mission, God willin' and the river don’t rise.
