Macy Louise and I will again be walking in the Humane Society of Charlottes 's Pet walk on Saturday April 6 2024.

Maddie, Millie and now Macy Louise have all walked in this walk for many years and we enjoy doing it and seeing what our fundraising  efforts do to help the HSC.

The Humane Society of Charlotte is a wonderful organization which cares for animals while they await their forever homes. This event is their largest fundraiser as well a they educate potential owners in regards to owning a pet.  Many years ago I volunteered with them on several occassions in which I cleaned the kennels which is not an easy task, played with the dogs and cats as well as walking them.  Maddie and I also took our therapy dog certification test through them in 2006.

Humane Society of Charlotte works as a partnership with CMPD's Animal Care and Control and has animals transferred to HSC.  These animals are transferred for whatever.reaspn .  if they were not they may not be adopted from CMPD's AC&C and may not have the chance to get a forever home.  Shelters.all over.the country are full.  Both organizations have a food bank in,which owners who are struggling to feed their pet can get.food.  No questions asked.

About 4 years  ago, the HSC grew out of their previous location and began fundraising for a new facility which is bigger and modern.  They are now able to house more animals then ever before.  That fundraiser was funded by people who donated to the Pet Walk as this is their biggest event of the year and through private donations.  This building fundraier kicked off with Ron Rivera and his wife, making a  significant donation and were also very active in the fundraising efforts.    Ron Rivera,  who some may know was the former head Coach for the Carolina Panthers and most recently the head coach for the Washington Commanders.  This is an organization very close to their hearts as well as mine.
