I'm Forrest Reed and I am a PFF Ambassador for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF). I am proud to be fundraising for the PFF as we walk together toward a cure for pulmonary fibrosis (PF). Please join me in supporting this vital cause by donating to my fundraising efforts.
In the Fall of 2020, I told my physician at my annual phsical that I'd had a persistent dry cough for the past couple months. My pulmonologist performed a high-resolution CT scan, tests and then a biopsy. My pulmonologist told me I had idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), which I had never heard of. I had no history of lung issues, and the first info we found on Dr. Google was that life expectancy is 3-5 years. I knew that I wouldn't give up without a fight.
During my research, I found the PFF website, and since then they have been my go-to resource. PFF has allowed me to better understand the disease and feel more empowered in advocating for the best care possible. With assistance from PFF, I found the UC Davis Advanced Lung Disease program. UCD's Pulmonary Rehab provided me with accurate information and a personalized exercise and diet program. I became committed to a life changing routine, and now I feel more fit than before my diagnosis. This year I set the UCD record for the longest distance in the six-minute pulmonary walking test.
With the support of PFF and my UC Davis care team, my motto is "Making Every Breath Count". I may have IPF, but it does not own me! I strive to each day to make every one of my 23,000 breaths count.
The PFF Walk supports the Foundation’s efforts to accelerate research, advance improved care for those living with the disease, and provide unequaled support and education resources for patients, caregivers, family members, and healthcare providers.
