Welcome to Ginger’s fundraising page!
It’s a perfect time to raise money for a cause and a cure! The $22 for the 22qdeletion campaign is a fun and necessary 22 day adventure to raise funds and bring awareness to Phelan McDermind Syndrome. All and any donations are welcome and very appreciated.
Lets Fundraise!
About Ginger:
Ginger, as of December 14th, 2018 is 2.5 years old. She was born on June 15th, 2016 and newly and recently diagnosed with PMS. Ginger experienced severe acid reflux the first 11 months of her life. She vomited often, didn’t reach her milestones on time, she didn’t sit up until she was 1 year old, she began scooting (her version of crawling) at 1.5 years old, she began walking around the couches and tables at 2 years old, and she only says two words which are “mama” and “eat”. She is not walking independently yet but she does have a miniature walker and wears leg braces everyday. She was recently admitted to a wonderful Physical Therapy school where she receives physical therapy, speech therapy and OT every single day. Finding out about her diagnosis and doing the proper research answered so many questions for me. Now I have joined the Phelan family and I am totally on board with fundraising to help with research and to hopefully find a cure!
Medical Experience:
Ginger has received care from her Pediatrician and Neurologist, Blood work, MRI scans, X-Rays, Numerous trips to the audiologist, brace fitting etc. It has been a really emotional, draining, tedious, demanding and bumpy ride but having peace of mind knowing that there is an answer made every trip worth it.
The purpose:
- Family support is thriving – PMSF sponsored its most successful family conference and research symposium in July, and PMSF now has a full-time genetic counselor to work with families and researchers.
- Research on PMS is increasing. As part of the conference, researchers met with families to gather information to augment research, and PMSF continues to search for grants to support additional research.
- A 3rd clinical drug trial was launched this summer, which may results in potential treatments. Although Ginger does not qualify for this trial, she could certainly benefit from it.
Keeping the Faith:
I know God to be a healer! I will continue to pray, keep the faith, give him glory, remain hopeful, fundraise and fight! The battle is not ours, it’s truly the Lord’s.
