As you might know, I have been working at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis this past year as an RN. Last October, I ran the Twin Cities Marathon as a fundraiser for the hospital. Children's is putting on another fundraiser running event this August. On August 7th, a 10km running race is being held to raise funds for the Oncology department here at Children's.
Being a float nurse, I have spent much of the past year with children and their families battling cancer. There has been a tremendous amount of emotion involved in working with these special people. Every day (night:), I have been amazed by the strength, faith, and overall toughness each of these kids and their support system has. I am equally inspired by the huge strides in patient care and medical research made within the patient-care team.
Here is where you come in: the Pine Tree Apple 10km is being held to support this great oncology health system that I'm telling you about. I am running to raise $300 (or more!) so even more opportunities are accessible to this amazing community of children, families, and caregivers. Will you run with me too?
