LDT 2021: Leadership Fleet Leads the Way to More Campers!
LDT 2021 Campers: "What did CIT/LIT mean to you?"
"To put it simply, LIT 21 meant the world to me. Every single person I met, every challenge I faced, every single day was a blessing. I think back to that week almost every morning and reflect on all it taught me, from big life lessons like teamwork or little things like the inside jokes we had. I met some of my now closest friends that week and with the leadership of Carly and Claire I was able to realize my full potential in leadership and my future at Camp Fitch."
"CIT was an incredibly needed experience in my life. Struggling with various mental health issues through elementary and middle school made it very hard for me to feel welcome. When I was a camper, I finally felt like I belonged. I didn’t feel “wrong” and I didn’t need to label myself. It was the first place I didn’t feel anxiety being in a crowd, I finally felt like I was home, with the people I belonged with. Camp Fitch and the friends and memories I made there are some of the reasons I’m still here. Camp helped me out of an incredibly dark place in my life. After my first year at camp, I knew I wanted to keep coming back, whether I was a camper or on staff. The experience of being a CIT not only solidified this feeling, but strengthened it even more. I can’t wait to help be a part of that environment that saved me as a kid. I want to be the person to the next generation of kids, that my counselors and other staff were to me. The CIT program was incredibly rewarding. It was difficult and challenged me, but I’m glad I stayed. Being in that leadership role, one of the “big kids”, was an incredibly maturing experience. Instead of being the person experiencing memories that would last a lifetime, I was helping create them. I hope on galley crew 2022 I can be that person again, whether it’s inspiring a younger camper to join galley crew/staff in the future or just putting a smile on their face. CIT helped me grow into the person I am today, and I’ll never forget the memories and lessons I learned. Carly and Claire were two amazing mentors, and I’m looking forward to seeing them again. CFF ❤️"
"My CIT experience was not what I was expecting. I thought I was going to spend week one goofing around with the other CIT guys, have some fun and maybe even learn a thing or two. I couldn't have been more wrong! I spent all of my time with either the 7 other ALL GIRL CIT's or the 7 eight year old boys I shared a bungalow with. Plus, I learned so much more than I thought I would ever need to know. Who knew waiting games were a thing? ? However, I don't regret a thing. The bond that I share with the other CIT's is incredible and I have no regrets with the fun group of kids I stayed with. Claire and Carly were the best mentors I could ask for and they really encouraged me to be the best me I could be. The CIT program prepared me to be a counselor at Camp Fitch and I couldn't be happier I chose to go through this great program!"
"CIT means being apart of a family you never knew you would have. Being a CIT brought so much adventure and fun that I never knew I would get. I had the best time of my life this summer and made friends with each and every one of the CIT's. These 2 weeks of my past summer, were the most fun filled time and I learned so much. I wish everyone could experience those amazing few weeks that I had the chance of experiencing."
"CIT brought me my best friends, and the knowledge to persevere even when it’s hard. It brought me a sense of family and communication, even with the short time. Some of my best memories from this summer are from being a CIT, and I am forever grateful."
"Best experience ever. Even though it was tiring and exhausting at times, I wouldn’t trade the experience for the world. Working with the campers and making sure they have a fun week was there highlight of my summer."
"As someone who decided to squeeze the lit and cit expirience all into one summer I can definitely say it was a good choice. both expirences made me a better leader and more confident going into rocky situations. both programs also provided me with friends who i still talk to every day and wouldn’t trade for the world."
"It meant a start of something new that will probably be in my life for a long time"
"CIT was the best decision of my life. I made lifelong relationships while learning so much about myself along the way."
