Bruce Kovner formed the hedge fund Caxton Associates in 1983 and was the CEO for 28 years, where he focused on trading in the financial and commodity markets. Mr. Kovner’s success at Caxton gave him the opportunity to develop his interest in philanthropy in the late 1980s and 1990s. His penchant for music and the arts led to his involvement in The Juilliard School, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for 22 years. The Kovners helped found the Historical Performance program and the Juilliard Kovner Fellowship and have given over 140 manuscripts to initiate the Juilliard manuscript collection. Mr. Kovner served as vice-Chairman of Lincoln Center, and he is on the board of the Metropolitan Opera. Suzie Kovner is a trustee of Carnegie Hall and Co-Chairs the advocacy group for Ensemble Connect, a collaboration between Carnegie Hall and The Juilliard School, which supports young musicians as they build their careers. The Kovner Foundation supports and promotes excellence in the arts and education.
