Camp Fitch is my home. Here, I have the opportunity to learn, grow, experiment, and (most importantly) fail. The mission of Camp Fitch is to make kids better forever. While this may seem like an insurmountable endeavor, the true impact of Fitch is even greater. Camp Fitch is a community, a family. A family that offers a safe space for all that walk across its doorstep. It’s a place for anyone to truly better themselves.

When I started as a counselor in 2016, I just thought camp would be a fun experience that would give me funny stories to tell at the office. Once I felt the impact one can make here, I knew I wanted my office to be the trees, the lake, the smiles on everyones’ faces as they pass through here. I have lived at Fitch for almost three years now, and there hasn’t been a day that I doubt the change in my life’s path.

As the Summer Program Director I see the true reach of Camp Fitch. I see kids cry at the end of the week because they don’t want their time here to ever end. I meet parents that are eternally grateful that their child is growing up to be great young adults. I get to watch kids that I had as campers grow up into young staff and have their own campers that look up to them. I connect with alumni of all ages that still hold the memories of campfires and worn down shoes dearly in their hearts after all this time. 

I’m jumping into the icy waters of Lake Erie so that more kids get to call this place home, and grow up in a community that supports them and pushes them to be better than they thought they could.
