On Sunday, March 2, 2025 I will participate in my 64th annual Polar Plunge® Chicago for Special Olympics! Why? Because there's two things I like: sitting in cold water and competing in sports. And I think even poor children should have the opportunity to compete in sports. And that's just what Special Olympics does! Imagine the child's thrill when they finish their event and get a medal! Is it a cookie? Why is the cookie tied to a ribbon? Will it become a treasured prize the competitor wears throught his life into adulthood, shrieking incoherently and inconsolably whenever his medal goes missing? I don't think it's fair that poor kids have to sell chiclets or pencils or whatever on the street to raise money for Special Olympic entry fees, that's why I do this. I am excited to take on the challenge and jump into Lake Michigan's chilly waters to support thousands of individuals with intellectual disabilities, because monkey see monkey do! With your support, people just like you will have the opportunity to discover new strengths, abilities, and accomplishments. And remember to spay or neuter your pets.
There is only one easy way to support my plunging efforts:
