As you are well aware, this cause is very near and dear to my heart. David and I have six rescues in our home — our family — Kinsey, Oscar, Felix, Ally, Bella and Charlie!
I recently had the opportunity to tour the Humane Society of Charlotte shelter. It was a bittersweet experience. I was overwhelmed by the commitment, compassion and hard work of the volunteers and staff. However, my heart was broken when I saw the condition of the shelter itself. The existing building is actually falling down around them. In addition to contributing to their capital campaign for a new state of the art facility, I also knew I had to participate in this walk to help support their every day needs.
