Why I PLUNGE!
Unfortunately, Cancer is a disease that affects many people. My late father, David Potter, passed away when I was 2 years old due to Leukemia. Although I was a young age, I grew up being aware of this disease and always wanted to do what I can to help, even if its small.
My step father, Bill Ashton, asked me to do the Polar Plunge 3 years ago when a good friend of his passed away from cancer. We have started off the Plunge group every year together since!
This past year, I lost my grandmother, Alice Lennon, from a short battle with lung cancer. More recently, one of my closest friends has started her battle with Breast Cancer.
This years plunge, I'm doing it not only to remember those lost, but more importantly support those that are battling cancer (especially my most amazing and best friend!!). Going to events like these shows me that there are also MANY SURVIVORS!!! It's uplifting to know that with our support it gives strength to those battling, shows them we care and love them, and if we can raise money thats always beneficial as well. :-) Please join me in helping those fighting this disease, a short jump in chilly water is nothing compared to the bravery and strength they go through!
