Friends, loved ones, colleagues -
There is no way around it. Asking for money is hard. But turning towards sickness with courage and compassion is a whole lot harder. That's why, on behalf of the cancer research program at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, I am asking for your financial support.
Here's the deal: August 6th-9th, Children's Hospitals will put on the the Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic for the 30th year. PTATC, or "Pine Tree" to industry insiders, is a mixed doubles tennis tournament featuring the best of the best Twin Cities tennis talent. The players are current and former professionals, NCAA Division I wunderkinds, and - in the case of myself and my super-awesome partner Shawn Meschke - enthusiastic amateurs with big serves and a longing for the glory days. Since all of us would happily play for free, any donations we solicit (along with all tournament ticket sales and merchandise proceeds) go straight to the Pediatric Cancer Research Program at Children's. In fact, kind folks like you have donated $4.5 million dollars since the tournament began in 1986. That's a whole lot of clinical trials, scientific breakthroughs, and smiling kiddos.
Now is your chance to add to the pot. Give now. Give generously. Give any amount that would make Sharapova shriek, Federer cry, and McEnroe question your sincerity. Then click here and feel your heart explode as you meet the recipients of your goodwill. Please, and you're welcome.
Not motivated by human kindness? Shrimp cocktail and an open bar more your thing? We've got you covered. A $250 donation will get you four free tournament tickets, plus two entries to the VIP player-sponsor appreciation party Friday, August 7th, at the Dellwood Country Club. Provided we raise $500*** each, Shawn and I (along with our spouses, Kristin and Paul) will be there to toast your benevolent helping hand.
***$500 is the MINIMUM, but when have you ever known me to be okay with that? Help me overachieve!
Finally, for those of you rich in intentions and spirit, please consider being our in-person cheering squad during the tournament. I've got a few tournament passes to share, gratis, so you can be my support system if I can't keep up with the young guns.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and charity. Go after it! - Kelli
