I'm very excited to be playing in my 27th consecutive Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic (PTATC) and the 35th anniversary of this incredible event! The PTATC has raised over $5.8M for children's cancer research with a focus on maintaining two rare tumor registeries and improving the physical function of children post cancer surgery and treatment. The impact of our research in partnership with Children's Minnesota has been profound, benefitting children here in Minnesota and all over the world.
I'm in my third year as President of the Pine Tree Apple Clasic Fund (PTACF) Board, the non-profit that hosts the PTATC each year. Due to COVID-19, we were unsure if we would be able to hold our 35th anniversary event. I'm pleased to report that this year's tourney is a "go"; however, with some modifications to keep everyone safe and adhere to social distancing guidelines set forth by Federal and State health agencies. See my video on the website for more details on this year's tennis tournament and appreciation party.
Meghan Kimber and I are playing together again this year and hoping to secure our third straght Master's Division title. We should have a strong draw so expecting some very tough matches along the way. I will keep all of you posted on my match locations and times for those that can come out to cheer us on. We'll need you!
We are so fortunate to have such a loyal base of players, volunteers, sponsors and donors that continue to give so much to our cause each year. I'm very grateful for any contribution that you can make towards my $7,500 personal fundraising goal this year. I hope to "crush" that total again in 2020!
Thank you for making a difference in the lives of these children that continue to need our help. One day we all hope to say, "Game, Set, Cure"!
I encourage you to watch the videos below to hear the amazing story of the Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic (PTATC) and learn about the research programs at Children's Minnesota that benefit from funds raised by Pine Tree Apple Classic Fund.
