My Personal Fundraising Page

Howdy everyone ... It's that time of year again... we are beginning to plan the 7th Annual Purple Plunge!  We are just 2 months away from our main fundraiser for the year.  Purple Plunge is near and dear to my heart as many of you alreqady know.  Why, you ask?   Because we were in the shoes of these families.  Seven short years ago, we were on Day #3 at Rush University Medical Center undergoing Ricky's first chemotherapy treatment. 

What a scary, scary time that was for all of us.  We were very fortunate in that we had a boatload of family, friends and strangers that supported us during those dark times.  Additionally, we had a great employer who supported us with  things like insurance and FMLA so we could take care of our baby boy.  Some families aren't as "lucky" as we were seven years ago.  Some families and/or patients don't have the benefits we had by being employed by a corporation.  Often times, parents can't work to get their baby through treament.  What about when the patient is the main bread-winner of the family?  They might not be able to pay the mortgage, the rent or the utilities.  Sometimes, the added expenses associated with going to and from treament puts a family into a tail-spin financially.. 

This is where Purple Plunge comes in.  We help provide financial assistance to local familes impacted by cancer.  In the 3 years as a stand-alone non-profit, we have helped 107 familes by providing them some financial relief.  This is why we volunteer and work with this amazing non-profit organization.  So .... once again this year,  I’m participating in this year’s Purple Plunge 2020 to raise money for Purple Plunge, Inc..
