Purple Plunge Individual Fundraising

On May 25, 2018 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. One of the most challenging and difficult breast cancers to treat. I also, was diagnosed at the same time with Stage 1 DIC breast cancer. The odds were not in my favor. Scary stuff awaited me! I would endure months of chemotherapy, surgeries, and many horrible radiation treatments. The chemo worked and I had a complete pathological response to treatment. We still opted for radiation, as to leave no stone unturned. I made the very difficult decision to do a double mascetomy and reconstruction. This began a long journey down a difficult path of failed implants, latissimus dorsi flap surgery and more. I got to know the out patient surgical staff pretty well!! On November 4, 2022, I celebrated 4 years of being cancer free. Being cancer free is not without it's worries, though. You never really "walk" away from cancer. When I plunged last year I was awaiting a lung biopsy. I didn't know if my cancer was back, luckily I received positive news. Everyone who has or has had cancer has a story. I personaly know too many people with these stories. Let's beat cancer. Let's change the stories.
