In January of 2010, we received the happiest news – I was pregnant! My first trimester was perfect. And then I woke up to swollen feet, rapid weight gain, and blurry vision. I was suffering from something I had never heard of before – Preeclampsia. As the only option for survival, Kabir was born at 28 weeks weighing only 2 pounds. After his birth, I was closely monitored for 1 week in the ICU and Kabir fought for his life for 2 months in the NICU. Today, he is a healthy, fun loving, and caring 10 year old who gives the best hugs and loves his video games!
Ten years ago after Kabir was born, Sony and I went on a mission…to raise awareness for preeclampsia so that no other family would go through what we did. While we knew a cure would not be found overnight, let alone a decade, we continue to be dedicated in hope that there will be a cure to preeclampsia within our lifetime. We were looking forward to celebrating our 10 years of raising awareness in person, but due to circumstances we invite you all to join us virtually on October 25, 2020 to walk, run, or do an activity you love the most!
